Animation Independent Project
Create an original, meaningful animation of quality that lasts at least 2 minutes showcasing what you have learned in this class.
Consider all the elements listed in the grading rubric when planning and animating.
Follow this workflow:
1. Brainstorm an idea
-What is the purpose of your animation? (to entertain? to tell a story? to persuade? to inform?) You are required to spend at least 1 full period,
WITHOUT A PHONE OR A COMPUTER, thinking about/planning your project.
2. Create a proposal for sharing the generated idea with Mr. Hermanet. This proposal should follow this format:
a. A one sentence summary of the project.
b. A description of the purpose of the animation as developed in part 1. Also describe any characters and their personality. What are their motivations and flaws?
c. An outline of a story structure. Consider modifying Pixar's story structure. This should also give a general sense of the plot.
d. Identification of the objects and/or characters that will need to be modeled and any resources needed to do so
(MakeHuman software? Internet references? Photos/videos you take?)
-Any concerns or questions you have about the project.
3. Develop an outline of tasks to complete using this form. Estimate how long each step will take. You may want to make a calendar to plan out your days. The project must be shown at Media Night so that is an absolute deadline.
4. Gather references or draw out original ones.
5. Build any necessary mesh objects and armatures to be used in animation.
6. Create the environment. Would an HDRI be appropriate?
7. Add materials and textures as necessary.
8. Animate the subjects with keyframes.
9. Export the animation.
10. Add a title, credits & sound in Blender or Adobe Premier.
11. Export the final video.
As you work through the project, keep a daily log of your progress. This will be a significant part of your quarterly grades.
