Animation
Keyframes
A device used to create and control animation, effects, audio properties, and many other kinds of change that occur over time. They mark the point in time where you specify a value, such as a position in space, opacity, or audio value.
Values between keyframes are interpolated, or smoothed out. Therefore, you must always use at least 2 keyframes…one to show the beginning state of the change and one to show the ending state. Keyframes can be viewed in the effects control panel or in the timeline

Animation Practice
Animation is based on the illusion that the human brain creates when a series of still images are presented with slight changes that occur at a rate faster than the eye can observe. To test out this process, create a simple animation at this site. Or here.

More Advanced Options
When you're ready for more advanced options, you can try Pencil2D, Pivot (Stickfigure Animation on your desktop), stop motion with a web cam at JellyCam, WickEditor or even Blender (very advanced).
Stop Motion with Pipe Cleaners or some other object using CloudStopMotion or JellyCam.
Stick figure animation with the PIVOT software on the school desktops

Assignment
Your task is to explore these options. That means that you should at least look at and/or play around with each one a little bit. Then you are to create an animation of at least 10 seconds where an object or character "escapes". This theme could be interpreted in any number of different ways.
