Independent Project
You have several options available to choose from in completing your final project. In general, you're aiming for a 3-5 minute meaningful collection of shot sequences. In the end, everyone should have created a portfolio which includes the final project but any other content may vary considerably. Each project should demonstrate a sum total of everything you’ve learned this year. See the grading rubric for a reminder of what was learned.
A CRITICAL part of the production of a professional-looking and viewer-pleasing piece is the planning of deliberate shots and sequences before shooting your video. This project is a long-term assignment and your finished piece should reflect this through its detail.
This project counts as 1) a project grade for the fourth quarter and 2) multiple work-in-progress grades.
New Learning
In addition to working on the final project, there will be mini-lessons on the following topics. You are responsible for the information presented in these lessons and may be quizzed on the material. In addition, you should incorporate any techniques learned, where appropriate, into your final project.
· Mattes, including use of the green screen
· Lighting techniques
· Shooting over-the-shoulder interview shots
· Overlaying video and adding motion effects
