DMP Notes
SOME THOUGHTS ABOUT VIDEO PRODUCTION
*The sequence/story/content matters.
*Ask yourself, "What does the production look like when the bells & whisles or special effects are taken away?" Is it still interesting?
*Emphasize light and shadow. For example, use mirrors to direct light to darker locations.
*Look for interesting camera angles.
*To get realistic room noise, tape the empty room for a minute or two and then you can use the sound you've collected to add as background noise.
*Observe copyright rules & try to use your own music/sound effects.
*Don't rely too heavily on editing tools available in the computer software.
*Good videos provide a REASON for watching them. They catch attention.
*Include an attention grabber (music, sound bite or image/shot) to hook the viewer early.
*Production involves much organization and planning.
*Sound should work with film and the film should work with the sound.
