Personal Logo Creation
PERSONAL LOGO DESIGN
For this assignment you will design your own personal logo. You will need to do some research about yourself before you begin. Think about your personality. What are you known for? What do you want to be known for? How do you want to present yourself professionally?
You will create 4 different logos for yourself - one for each of these approaches: NAME-ONLY, NAME-SYMBOL, REPRESENTATIONAL, ABSTRACT. You should complete at least 4 thumbnail sketches for each approach.
Each logo should be shown at various sizes (see the handout). They should be designed to succeed with one color for budgetary reasons. Color may be added to enhance the design but it should not depend on color for visual success.
Also consider:
Negative Space
Heavier marks
Visual Flow
Again, see the handout.
Finally, you must write a report in memo format, describing your intent in designing each of the logos. Follow the format below:
Paragraph 1: Very brief summary statement - what have you accomplished?
Paragraph 2: Background information - What were the assignment guidelines? What steps did you go through to solve the assignment problem? Speak chronologically.
Paragraph 3: Discuss the solutions you developed. What were you intending to communicate? Explain your reasoning in designing the solutions you designed. Be specific in identifying which solutions and wich visual elements you discuss.
Paragraph 4: How successful were you? What do you really like and what do you feel needs more work? Which solution would you be most likely to use on personal letterhead? Why?
