Setting Up A Basic Web Page
Webpage files have the extention .html or .htm. You can write the html code in a basic program such as Notepad and save the file as an HTML document. Here are the steps:
1. Open Notepad and click on FILE, SAVE AS.
2. Erase the .txt and give the file a name that follows the rules for webpage file names. End the name with .html or .htm.
3. From the file drop down menu, choose All Files. This will ensure that you are not saving the file as a text document.
4. Be sure to know the location where you are saving the file.
When you want to open the file through notepad again, you will need to click on FILE, OPEN. Because the default file type for Notepad documents is .txt, you will need to choose ALL FILES from the file drop down menu before you will be able to see and open your document.
